Abstract
One of the measurements proposed at the Electron Ion Collider (EIC) detector is the search for lepton flavor violation. This is a Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) process in which the electron and the quark from the proton form an intermediate boson called the Leptoquark (LQ) which in turn decays into another lepton and quark. In the case of the final lepton being a τ, we are faced with a situation in which we have an electron transforming into a τ, violating lepton flavor conservation in the process. The EIC Detector, if designed appropriately, could have the ability to check if such a LQ state exists. A recent study showed that the ratio of the width of the τ jet to the DIS jet at the generator level is about half when taking into account the characteristic 3 pion decay of the τ In this report we find that the relation observed above does not persist in the detector when only taking the response of the calorimeters into account. The detector simulation and analysis have been performed using a framework called Fairroot. | 41 pages
