Racial Unrest of 2020: Experiences from the Stony Brook University Community
The Stony Brook University Libraries' Anti-Racism Task Force, along with student workers and personnel from the Africana Studies department documented racial encounters, experiences, and perceptions around racial injustice that members of the Stony Brook University (SBU) Community experienced related to the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020. The focus of this project was to document the resurgence in the fight for racial and social justice that precipitated from the events of May 25, 2020.
ABOUT
This collection, created by the Anti-Racism Task Force of Stony Brook University Libraries, is composed of interviews narrated by students, staff, and faculty from the SBU Community. Interviews were conducted virtually by student workers and faculty of the SBU Libraries.
Each interview in this collection includes two files: the recording and the transcription. Unlike a written narrative, the transcription is of the spoken word. A member of the digital project team reviewed and edited the initial transcription provided by transcription software.
Funding for this project was provided by a grant from the Stony Brook University Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Intercultural Initiatives.
