Stony Brook University Police Department
Pursuant to New York State Education Law, the Stony Brook University Police Department is a full service police department, certified by the State of New York and comprised of members recognized as Police Officers by the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services. Officers respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Consistent with this authority, the University Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the Stony Brook main and Southampton campuses. The university is committed to the safety and well-being of its faculty, staff, students, and visitors to the campus. This report provides the measure that are taken by the University Police in the event of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving the immediate threat to the health or safety of persons on the campus.This also lays down the policies and procedures related to reporting of crimes on the Campus.

Campus Safety Advisory Committee
This report contains a review of security policies and procedures, and recommendations for their improvement, recommendations to educate the campus community about sexual assault, including reporting a sexual assault and how to deal with victims when investigating such an assault. It also includes the recommendation on how to handle referrals of sexual assault–related complaints to appropriate University authorities., counseling victims of sexual assault-related incidents and respond to inquiries from concerned persons. Recommendations on any other safety-related programs and initiatives are also included in the report
