Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe a template system that can be used to design and deploy mobile applications for the purposes of collecting large volumes of data. The implementation referred to in this paper pertains to phone sensor data collected for research studies in the field of indoor localization conducted at Stony Brook University, however many of the concepts can be generalized to other applications. The system is described through team structure, coordination methods, progress evaluation methods, and system integration techniques. Coordination methods involve a custom implementation of agile development, a version control software, knowledge transfer methods used among the team members and project transfer methods. It is important to note that this type of system is developed around a team of students who have limited time to devote to the project and also a limited but diverse skill set. | 25 pages
