Abstract
In the novella, Chalked Up, an oddball cast of teachers, parents, and outsiders reconcile their dreams and obsessions during one awful day of school. Star-pupil Shay Oluwaseyi gets mixed up with resident bad-boy Cargo. First-year teacher Mr. Toussaint wants out. Former cop Mr. Dowty finds himself in hot-water with an abusive parent. All the while Principal Moon tries to keep everything together. | 132 pages
