Description
1 v. (various pagings) : ill. ; 28 cm. includes bibliographical references.,from the abstract, ". . .The Municipal Solid Waste Policy Forums are designed to bring together small groups of knowledgeable people to explore a wide range of municipal solid waste management issues. This particular Forum was designed for Long Island decision makers, specifically for town supervisors and their staffs. The objectives were (1) to present a clear, concise and well-balanced overview of the advantages and disadvantages, real and perceived, of modern resource recovery technology; (2) to explore other important components of a town's comprehensive municipal solid waste management program; and (3) to examine the course we have embarked upon for municipal solid waste management on Long Island, to assess our present position relative to the goal, and to determine whether any mid-course corrections are called for. This report summarizes those major findings and recommendations which emerged from the discussion which are particularly pertinent to Long Island and the Metropolitan New York City area. . .
